Petals From Daisies
March 8 – 31, 2021
I created this body of work while under a mandated quarantine during the Covid-19 pandemic. Through trauma brought on by global crisis and isolation, I explore the internal conflict between embracing the comforts of home and simultaneously trying to escape them.
Ally Messer is an interdisciplinary artist and maker born and raised in Reno, Nevada. She received her BFA in printmaking at the University of Nevada, Reno in 2019. Messer’s work often delves into feminist and queer issues through the narrative perspective of fruit and vegetable characters. Messer values accessibility to art and is increasing accessibility to printmaking in her community by making contributions to Laika Press, a community-based printing press she co-founded in 2017. When she’s not making, Messer enjoys a good fruit and putting together penpal packages.
